Do I really want one?Most likely you have decided on live-in pub jobs after hearing experiences from friends and family, so you're probably keen on the idea and looking for some more info. Of course there are many ways to find work and survive in the UK. My experience primarily was with working and living in pubs so that's what I can write most informatively about. Some people do find themselves working in pubs for the wrong reasons. Many have no idea what to expect and get lured in by the prospects of free accommodation, included meals, no bills etc, without realising that it all comes at the cost of long hard -and poorly paid- work. Take your time and register your interest and upload your CV, and then just wait… It probably will work for you… eventually. Same goes for other advertised jobs, but I always think to myself: 'If I've seen these jobs, then chances are a thousand other people have already sent in their applications, and what chance do I have then?.' How much more likely is it that you'll get the job if you're the only one applying? I recommend job matching services because they deal with you directly – and more importantly they only get paid to place you in a job – there is no competition!

Most of them cost around the $500 mark to set you up with a live-in pub job before you leave your home country. Now for some of you this may be well inside your budget. If you're like me however and would prefer to spend that money on a weekend trip to Barcelona or similar shortly after you arrive, then keep reading. It's the aim of these fee charging sites to entice you into using their services. They are asking for a large sum of money after all. They want you to think that they are doing all the hard work in finding the best job for you. Of course they aren't likely to tell you the truth, that finding a live-in pub job in the UK is actually not that hard, if you know how... Not me. I met some people who had been in the country for months but hadn't even had a chance to see London because they had a job waiting for them on arrival. Shame.
